CAIRO – Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said he had rich and fruitful talks with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi within the context of constant consultations between Egypt and Algeria on bilateral relations as well as both countries’ role in helping push forward co-operation at the Arab and African levels in a way that achieves security and stability in the region.
In a joint press conference with President Sisi on Tuesday, the Algerian president said he and President Sisi asserted the necessity of working together to maintain the rightful place of Egypt and Algeria on the African arena and in the southern side of the Mediterranean Sea.
On that score, Tebboune pointed out to Egypt’s historical, geographic and strategic status as regards building bridges of co-operation among the Arab countries and in the Asian continent.
The economic motivation and facilitating investment between both countries were also tackled during the talks in addition to the African and Arab regional geopolitical dimension, he said.
He expressed his pleasure at being in Egypt, expressing thanks for the warm hospitality he received here.
The Algerian president said talks with President Sisi touched on a whole range of issues in the Arab and African regions as well as challenges facing the two countries at the regional and the international levels.
The talks resulted in a full consensus in view points and in the necessity of continuing and expanding consultations between both countries in preparation for the coming Arab Summit that Algeria will host, Tebboune added.
Tebboune noted that he seeks, along with President Sisi and other Arab leaders, to ensure a common ground during the coming Arab Summit so as to reach the aspired consensus and launch joint Arab action.
