Egyptian Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed Tayyeb stressed that Islam came to entrench equality and ditch discrimination.
He made the remarks during a meeting on Wednesday with a high-ranking delegation of the leaderships of the Church and Evangelical community under Andrea Zaki, President of the Evangelical Churches in Egypt, for greetings on Eidul Fitr.
Tayyeb expressed happiness for such annual meeting for reviving the amicable ties between the two sides.
Meanwhile, Zaki offered greetings on Eidul Fitr for Muslims, noting that the fraternity document that was signed between the Grand Imam of Al Azhar and the Vatican Pope marked a leap in humanitarian ties.
