Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem el-Gazar held a follow-up meeting on Wednesday on the Julius Nyerere’ hydropower plant and dam in Tanzania.
The project is regularly followed up by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi as part of distinguished relations between the two countries, the minister said in a statement.
Egypt is keen to strengthen relations with African neighbours, the minister added, noting that Egyptian companies are capable of carrying out giant projects at home and abroad and realise the dream of our Tanzanian brothers by implementing this project to generate hydroelectric power and achieve development.
The dam is1,025 metres long at crest level and 131 metres high and has a capacity of 34 billion cubic metres to serve a 2,115 MW hydropower plant.
