Egypt’s top prosecutor Hamada el-Sawi ordered a man accused of beheading another in the city of Ismailia to be referred to criminal court for an urgent trial.
The man is also accused of abusing narcotic substances and illegally possessing a knife on a public road with the purpose of breaching the public order, the prosecution’s office said in a statement Thursday according to MENA.
It added that a forensic medicine report showed that the suspect has no mental or psychological problems.
The prosecution had received a report that a person chopped off someone’s head in front of passers-by, and a video of the crime went viral on social media.
During investigations, the detainee admitted that he took a dose of narcotics in the morning of committing the crime.
