The Egyptian Supply and Internal Trade Ministry has called on all farmers to apply work rules of barley rice season and to abide by ministerial decision No. 109 of year 2022 to regulate circulating local barley rice this current season.
As per the decision, the farmers are obliged to supply one ton of barley rice for every cultivated feddan, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The feddan produces amounts of 3.5 to 4 tonnes of barley rice, according to the statement.
The ministry seeks to have 25 per cent of the harvested crop to attain required provision and availability and scale up this strategic commodity at large quantities and fair prices in the supply system and free markets through out the year, it added.
In case of refusing to submit the crop, violators will not be allowed to plant rice next year, the ministry warned in the statement.
