CAIRO – Egyptian Supply Minister Ali el-Moselhi said on Monday that Egypt’s strategic stock of basic commodities will suffice for 7 months for the first time.
These remarks were made by the minister during signing of contracts to establish logistic areas in Daqaliya, Suez and Kafr El Sheikh governorates.
The minister said that nearly 3.9 million tons of local wheat have been collected so far.
The minister pointed out that Egypt’s strategic stock of cooking oil is enough for six months, while the stock of sugar will meet the local market’s need for six months.
On the rice stock, Moselhi noted that Egypt’s stock is sufficient for three months, adding that 30,000 tonnes of rice have been imported from India and the season of rice harvesting is due soon.
