CAIRO – Egypt’s Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy described President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s participation in the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact in Paris as a special mission.
In statements to Al Nahar TV station, he added that the summit reflects Egypt’s call to rich and developed countries to shoulder responsibility and partnership.
The summit tackles the need for a new global financial system, he added, noting that the existing financial order, that depends on IMF, WB and other financing organizations, has flaws that occurred due to several crises that struck the global economy including the developing states.
Fahmy added that French President Emmanuel Macron had held a banquet for Sisi, noting that Macron had held only one banquet for one president during the Summit’s period.
He also noted that the two presidents had held extended talks.
During his visit to Paris, Sisi had also received heads of two French companies working in the fields of marine transport and manufacturing of trains.
Fahmy also noted that Egypt and France enjoy deep-rooted relations and profound understanding of joint interests.
Fahmy added that the crises that hit the global financial system had increased due to the Covid pandemic.
The governments interfered through social programs and that led to inflation then the Russian-Ukrainian war hit the world to disrupt food and energy chains leading to increase of interest in all countries.
Egypt is still presiding over the climate change conference until handing the presidency to the UAE next December, he added, noting that the world cannot face climate changes without development and funding.
