The Suez Canal reported smooth navigation on Wednesday despite poor weather conditions. A total of 39 ships crossed the canal from both directions, carrying 1.6 million tons of cargo. Chairman Osama Rabie confirmed operations remain steady, highlighting the canal’s advanced monitoring systems and experienced teams.
Rabie inspected traffic from the main control center and ordered precautionary measures to ensure safety. Canal units were instructed to follow strict navigation rules, especially during pilot boarding and routine marine procedures. The crisis management committee is in continuous session to oversee traffic and coordinate emergency response.
Rescue tugs are on high alert for rapid intervention. Hospitals, medical centers, ambulances, and fire services linked to the canal have raised readiness levels. Rabie also directed ongoing coordination with operations rooms in canal cities to provide support if needed.
The canal continues to serve local residents with ferry, bridge, and tunnel crossings. These services operate under strict safety guidelines and in full coordination with navigation offices in Port Said, Ismailia, and Suez.
