Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie witnessed on Wednesday the signing of a memorandum to exchange visions with Omani Integrated Logistic Services SAOC.
This signing ceremony was attended by Oman’s Ambassador in Cairo Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi.
The memo aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in maritime operations and logistic services at the Suez Canal Authority’s guidance building in Ismailia.
In a press release, the Suez Canal Authority said the memo aims at promoting bilateral collaboration in various areas, particularly in the fields of training and ship repair and maintenance through leveraging the accumulated expertise of the Suez Canal Authority’s shipyards and companies.
The two sides also eye coordination of marketing efforts to attract Omani vessels to transit through the canal, the establishment of a specialized advisory center for technical and logistical support, and organizing joint workshops and conferences to share best practices and improve operational efficiency in logistics and maritime sectors.
Rabie underlined keenness on promoting cooperation and partnerships with all clients in various maritime and logistic domains in order to improve vessel transit experiences.
He highlighted Egypt’s plans to turn into a regional hub for logistics services, “therefore the authority has introduced a package of new maritime services, including fuel supply, emergency medical services at sea, and developing ship maintenance services.”
For his part, Omani ambassador Rahbi asserted that the Suez Canal is a suitable destination for providing various logistic and maritime services under global standards.
He voiced hope to leverage the historical relations between Egypt and Oman to bolster maritime cooperation and utilize the extensive experience of the Suez Canal Authority in supporting Oman’s ambitious 2040 maritime strategy.
