The sub-committee formed by the parliament to revise and amend, if necessary, the criminal procedures bill submitted by the government held on Wednesday its first meeting.
Earlier, the parliament approved in principle the amendments to some provisions of the law on criminal procedures of 1950 but ordered the formation of a sub-committee to revise it.
The amendments aim to achieve prompt justice and implement constitutional obligations relating to criminal procedure.
The sub-committee is made up of members from the constitutional and legislative, human rights, and national security committees, as well as lawyers and law professors.
