CAIRO – Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, highlighted the importance of strengthening continental coordination in Africa, particularly in the areas of food security and agricultural value chains.
The remarks came during his meeting on Friday with the African Union Commissioner for Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy, and Sustainable Environment (ARBE) department Moses Vilakati held on the sidelines of AU meetings.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s readiness to share its national expertise in land reclamation, digital transformation in agriculture, and sustainable development, supporting the implementation of the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for the Commissioner and his office, underscoring the country’s commitment to active engagement on key priorities, including agriculture, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
Abdelatty expressed hope for continued collaboration through relevant ministries, notably the ministries of agriculture and environment, to facilitate knowledge exchange and strengthen African capacities in food security, natural resource management, and the blue economy.
Abdelatty stressed the strategic importance of recognizing Egypt’s Center for Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Expert Systems at the Agricultural Research Center as an African Union Center of Excellence, focusing on climate adaptation, resilience building, and sustainable agriculture.
