Follow-up of executive steps for the launch of accident insurance for Egyptians abroad was the focus of a meeting chaired by Minister of Immigration and Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram in Cairo on Tuesday.
Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) Mohammed Omran attended along with senior officials from the ministry and FRA and representatives of the Ministry of Interior, Insurance Federation of Egypt (IFE) Alaa Al-Zhiair and Director-General of the Egyptian Pool for Travel Insurance (EPTI) Mohamed Zahran.
Discussions focused on coordination among the parties involved to implement the insurance from January 2022 in co-operation with the EPTI.
The meeting came in response to a protocol signed between the Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, the FRA, the IFE, and the EPTI during the 3rd annual Sharm El-Sheikh Insurance and Reinsurance Rendezvous and the 27th Conference of the Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers (FAIR) on September 19-22, 2021.
The outcome of the protocol was this insurance for expatriate Egyptians, a ministry statement said.
FRA chief Mohammed Omran said the insurance policy would be extended to cover Egyptians living overseas in line with the government strategy of inclusive insurance.
Omran also referred to ongoing discussions with the concerned bodies to offer Egyptian expats an integrated insurance package.
