Egypt’s Minister of State for Information, Diaa Rashwan, convened a meeting on Tuesday with key media leaders, including Khaled Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR); Abdel Sadek el-Shorbagi, Chairman of the National Press Authority (NPA); and Ahmed el-Moselmani, head of the National Media Authority (NMA).
The meeting, held in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, focused on strengthening the role of Egypt’s media in delivering accurate information to the public, countering misinformation, and fostering inclusive dialogue across all segments of society.
Participants in the meeting praised the president’s vision for a professional national media capable of promoting informed public discourse, consolidating Egypt’s cultural identity, and providing decision-makers with objective analyses of key national challenges. They also welcomed Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli’s guidance on enhancing coordination between the Ministry of Information and independent media authorities while preserving their constitutional autonomy, ensuring a unified platform for national dialogue.
The media leaders extended their congratulations to Minister Rashwan on his appointment, noting his extensive experience in both media and political sectors and his respected standing among media professionals as key factors in achieving the ministry’s objectives.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to closer collaboration among media authorities, adherence to constitutional and legal standards regarding freedom of expression and privacy, and continued efforts to enhance professionalism and performance across Egypt’s media landscape, supporting the state’s broader development and communication agenda.
