Egypt’s Minister of Electricity, Mahmoud Esmat, and Minister of Petroleum, Karim Badawi, visited the National Control Center for the National Natural Gas Grid at GASCO’s headquarters. Their visit aimed to assess the gas supply system’s readiness to meet the increased demands of power plants during the upcoming summer months.
The ministers conducted a thorough review of operating plans and available gas quantities. They also examined various supply scenarios to guarantee stable grid pressures and ensure enough fuel is on hand to handle rising electrical loads due to higher temperatures.
Both ministers confirmed that the petroleum sector is committed to securing natural gas and diesel supplies for power plants. This involves real-time network monitoring and boosting the flexibility of the distribution system to ensure a continuous fuel supply and uninterrupted service.
They emphasized that strong coordination between the two ministries is crucial for maintaining the stability of the national energy grid, particularly during peak consumption periods.
This inspection is part of Egypt’s broader preparations for the summer season, demonstrating the country’s dedication to providing citizens with energy and vital services efficiently and safely. It highlights the full readiness of these sectors to address any potential operational challenges.
