Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed said the Egyptian State harnesses its potential to enhance manufacturing capabilities in the medical field, in accordance with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives in this regard.
Zayed made the remarks during the cabinet’s meeting on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli.
The health minister reviewed the current coronavirus infection rate in Egypt and globally, in addition to the number of people inoculated against the virus and the local manufacture of Covid-19 vaccines.
Until yesterday, more than 13 million citizens have received their first doses of the vaccine while the number of people who have been administered second doses topped 7 million, Zayed revealed.
She also noted that the vaccination rate among citizens increased 18.4 percent by the end of September.
Zayed said her ministry has taken some measures to facilitate procedures for students and citizens to receive the coronavirus vaccine, noting that 240 youth centres nationwide have been allocated to administering various vaccines.
As for the latest developments related to the manufacture of vaccines, the minister said 10 million doses of the Sinovac/VACSERA Covid-19 vaccine will be produced this week, adding that the total amount of vaccines that have been supplied so far has reached approximately 60 million.
