The Ministry of Youth and Sports will launch on Friday the third stage of “Your bike … Your health” initiative to help youths and citizens buy bicycles at a subsidized price.
The e-booking of bikes will start at 5:00pm on Friday via the ministry’s portal.
This phase includes 3,200 bikes at a subsidised price, including electric bikes with a 30km/h speed and bikes set for girls.
Banque Misr will offer facilities to those seeking to buy electric bikes as they will be available through 12-month interest-free installments.
The initiative aims to encourage youths to use bikes as economic means of transport and do sports as daily life activities to improve the lifestyle and fitness of Egyptian citizens and change commuting habits.
The bikes will be handed over at sports and youths directorates across the nation while inhabitants of Cairo and Giza will receive their bikes at Maadi Olympic Center.
The “Your Bike Your Health” initiative has received widespread approval and acceptance across Egypt, especially young people.
In the first phase, 1,000 bikes were bought in only 20 minutes after registration was put up on the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ website. This prompted the ministry to expedite the launch of the second and third phases with more bikes to accommodate more requests.
