CAIRO – Egyptian Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhy said Sunday that the political leadership under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is keen on making sports a style of life in Egypt.
Sports could be the starting point towards building and developing a nation, Sobhy said in a telephone conversation with the national volleyball team via video conference.
The call was meant to encourage the national team ahead of their final encounter against Tunisia in the African U21 Volleyball Championship, currently held in Tunisia.
Sobhy congratulated the national team on qualifying for the final match of the championship.
All the players have, indeed, honoured Egypt, the minister said, stressing that a reception will be organised for them regardless of the result of the final match.
He also vowed to provide all financial and moral support for all Egyptian athletes.
