In a proud moment for Egypt’s maritime infrastructure, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel el-Wazir, received an official Guinness World Records certificate during his visit to Ain Sokhna Port.
The certificate, presented by accredited Guinness adjudicator Kanza El-Defrawy, honours Ain Sokhna Port for achieving the deepest man-made port basin constructed on land, reaching an impressive depth of 19 metres.
Minister el-Wazir expressed immense pride in this international accolade, describing it as a reflection of Egypt’s rapid progress across multiple sectors, particularly in maritime transport.
He attributed the success to the dedicated efforts of Egyptian workers, engineers, and over 200 specialised national companies that collaborated to deliver this landmark project, continuing a tradition of excellence both at home and abroad.
The extensive upgrades at Ain Sokhna Port align with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to leverage Egypt’s strategic geographic position, overlooking the Red Sea and Mediterranean, and home to the vital Suez Canal.
El-Wazir emphasised the vision to transform Ain Sokhna into a premier global hub on the Red Sea, serving as Egypt’s primary eastern gateway for exports and imports.
This development aims to elevate Egypt’s standing on the world trade map and fulfil the national goal of establishing the country as a regional centre for transport, logistics, and transit trade.
This achievement underscores the ongoing transformation of Egypt’s ports into world-class facilities, boosting economic growth and international connectivity.
