Egypt’s Social Solidarity Minister Nevine Qabbaj on Saturday witnessed the launch of the fourth stage of ‘Al Hayat Amal’ initiative to support the elderly at Cairo’s Gezira Sporting Club.
The initiative was organized by the social solidarity directorate in Giza, in cooperation with Albir Waltakwa charity, with the participation of the elderly from Cairo, Giza, Fayuom and Beni Suef governorates.
The state is keen to provide the elderly, whose number is 7 million citizens, with social protection and better services, Qabbag said, noting that the government is about to enact the first law on protecting the rights of the elderly.
The Social Solidarity Ministry also prioritizes guaranteeing better health, social, economic, cultural and human rights for the elderly, the minister added.
