Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi discussed with UNFPA Representative in Egypt Yves Sassenrath aspects of cooperation between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the UNFPA as well as expansion in the plans and program due to be implemented in the future.
The meeting tackled joint initiatives on population issue to be reflected on promoting the population characteristics from a comprehensive developmental perspective and means of cooperation to raise the health awareness in the communities within the framework of achieving sustainable development.
This came during Morsi’s reception to UNFPA representative during his first visit to the ministry after assuming office.
The meeting also took up cooperation in putting an integrated plan for social protection and merging between support and empowerment within the framework of a comprehensive vision to the system of social protection.
The meeting also discussed the ministry’s mechanisms to set the atmosphere for opening nurseries as a way to empower women from working.
Meanwhile, Sassenrath reviewed the working plan and the interventions of the UNFPA as part of the presidential initiative for human development.
