CAIRO – The Egyptian women positively contribute to developing the Egyptian family, attaining prosperity of the local economy along with achieving social justice, Social Solidarity Minister Nevine Kabbag said.
The minister, meanwhile, saluted the Palestinian women for their steadfastness, adding that Egypt is at the forefront of countries which support its brothers in difficult times.
The minister’s remarks were made while opening, on behalf of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, the 3rd edition of the Egyptian Women’s Summit.
The two-day summit sees the participation of a host of officials, experts and representatives from the university students.
The event represents a unique opportunity for the new generation to promote the value of women, said the minister.
The percentage of women’s representation in the two houses of parliament increased by 22%, added the minister, adding that the women’s representation in the diplomatic corps increased to reach 60%.
The minister also extended thanks to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for supporting women. The minister further thanked men for supporting women as a partner in the homeland.
The minister referred to the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women, which was launched by the National Council for Women (NCW).
