Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbag issued a decision regarding regulations for licensing small homes established to care for children.
The homes will provide family care as an alternative to social care institutions providing educational, social and psychological services.
Each small home will have an internal bylaw, an ethical charter, a code of professional conduct for its employees and a supervisory structure compatible with the age groups and their individual needs.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity supports family care in order to prevent the separation of children from their families (except in cases where this conflicts with the best interest of the child) in line with ministry policy that the child’s natural place is in the home and family.
