Slovenia’s Ambassador to Egypt, Sašo Podlesnik, has voiced country’s appreciation for Egypt’s assistance in facilitating the evacuation of Slovenian citizens from Gulf countries and ensuring their safe return home via Egypt.
In remarks to the Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Monday, the ambassador said that 912 Slovenians, along with 146 citizens from other European and international countries, had been evacuated in recent days.
Some 9 evacuation flights were operated from Muscat, Dubai and Riyadh to repatriate Slovenian nationals amid the current situation in the Gulf region, he explained.
Around 200 Slovenians remain abroad, most of them in the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Thailand, noting that Slovenia’s foreign ministry continues to provide them with information regarding arrangements for their return home, Podlesnik added
