Muayyad al-Lami, head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and head of the Arab Journalists Union, affirmed that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s participation in the Baghdad Co-operation and Partnership Conference reflects Egypt’s strong interest in supporting Iraq and helping it overcome all economic and security challenges, especially those related to its war on terrorism and restoring security and stability.

In statements to the Egyptian media delegation, Al-Lami said that President Sisi’s visit to Iraq and his participation in the work of the conference as well as his meeting with Iraqi President Barham Salih and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi will have a significant impact on the country.

The delegation included the Chairman of the Supreme Media Council Karam Gabr and the editors-in-chief of the Middle East News Agency, Al-Ahram, Al-Akhbar and Al-Gomhouria.

In his statements, Al-Lami that the Egyptian leader’s visit would support Iraq through bilateral relations as well as through the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan to establish a strategic partnership between the three countries based on integration and achieving common developmental goals.

He said that the Iraqi president and prime minister stressed the importance of benefiting from the inspiring and successful Egyptian experience in building state institutions, achieving sustainable development and carrying out national projects and transferring them to Iraq, especially in the field of infrastructure and electric power as well as strengthening the areas of economic, commercial and investment cooperation.

Al-Lami praised the Egyptian role in support of Iraq, especially with regard to facing common challenges, foremost of which is combating terrorism and achieving security, stability and development.
