Egypt seeks to make the River Nile a domain for partnership and goodness, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said on Thursday, as Egypt is struggling to reach an agreement on the filling and operation of Ethiopia’s dam on the Blue Nile.

“We have stressed Egypt’s readiness to transfer expertise in the electricity projects and agricultural production to our brothers in Africa,” Sisi told a conference of the Decent Life Initiative, a national project to develop Egypt’s countryside villages.

Sisi stressed that Egypt brought the Ethiopian dam issue to the UN Security Council to place it on the agenda of the international community.

He added that Egypt’s projects target preserving every drop of water.

The Decent Life project, which aims at upgrading all aspects of life for 4,584 villages in all governorates that represent 58% of Egypt’s population, is estimated at around EGP 700 billion. It focuses on promoting social, health, educational, economic and housing levels as well as all other service sectors in these villages. It also targets eliminating multilateral poverty and investing in developing humans from a comprehensive perspective, in cooperation with all the state bodies concerned
