President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Saturday called for providing international protection for the innocent civilians and putting an end to intimidating and targeting them, raising an alarm over a dangerous humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and attempts of forced displacement which is rejected by the world and the international law.

He asserted Egypt’s rejection of liquidating the Palestinian Cause.

Addressing the inauguration of the 2023 Cairo Peace Summit at the New Administrative Capital, president Sisi said: “Today, we meet in Cairo at a tough time that tests our humanity and our deepest beliefs in the value of a human and his right to living.”

He added “The summit is taking place at a difficult time that tests the depth of our belief in values and principles. The whole world, not only the region, is keeping an eye on our stance at this historic moment in the wake of the current military escalation since October 7 in Israel and the Palestinian territories.”

The president underscored the significance of stopping the military escalation, paving the way for a truce and starting the negotiations in order to reach a just solution to the Palestinian issue, having an independent state in line with the two-state solution along with working seriously on supporting the legitimate Palestinian authority.

Egypt categorically condemns targeting, killing or intimidating the peaceful civilians, president Sisi said.

He added that Egypt expresses absolute astonishment that the world is just watching the catastrophic humanitarian crisis of the 2.5 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
