US accords great importance to partnership with Egypt
Cairo supports all paths leading to political solution in Sudan
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in the West Bank, warning that the situation risks further complicating the regional landscape.
The President’s remarks came during his meeting on Thursday with a delegation from the US Congressional committees, led by Senator Joni Ernst,in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel Aaty.
President Sisi expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Gaza, reiterating Egypt’s determination to continue efforts — in coordination with international partners— to end the war, which has caused a humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip.
The President warned, in this regard, of the extreme danger of the current Israeli escalation in the West Bank, which gravely increasing the risks of complicating the regional situation.
He also stressed the need for international cooperation to halt the escalation in the Palestinian territories and to work towards the implementation of the internationally recognised two-state solution, which envisions the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
He noted that such a solution would bring about a new reality in the region in which peace, justice, and security would prevail in a sustainable manner instead of the current situation that portends violence and destruction and jeopardises people’s resources.
The meeting also discussed the ongoing crisis in Sudan. President Sisi reaffirmed the continuation of Egypt’s intensive efforts to reach ceasefire, restore security and stability, and support all paths that lead to reaching political solution that ends the crisis in Sudan and preserves the unity and resources of the Sudanese people.
Discussions also addressed the various crises in the region. President ElSisi affirmed Egypt’s firm position in supporting the nation-state, respecting the sovereignty of countries and their territorial integrity, and maintaining the cohesion of their national institutions, in a way that enables them to play their role and fill the vacuum that causes the spread of terrorism.
The UD Congressional delegation members expressed their great appreciation for the Egyptian positions, and pledged to continue consultation and joint action between the two countries to achieve the goals of peace, stability, and development in the Middle East.
They underscored the importance the US institutions and stakeholders accord to the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, which they described as a cornerstone of regional stability.
They praised Egypt’s consistent role in maintaining security and supporting peace efforts in the region, particularly since the crisis in Gaza began.
The delegation noted Egypt’s leadership in calming tensions and coordinating the delivery of humanitarian aid. They explained that their visit to the region aims to support efforts to secure a hostages and detainees exchange agreement, achieve a ceasefire, and reduce the escalation in the region.
