Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday directed the government to accelerate efforts to maximize the economic benefit from oil and natural gas resources and finalize various industrial oil projects to reduce imports and meet needs of the local market.
Sisi’s instructions came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Oil Minister Tarek Al Molla, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
During the meeting, Molla reviewed the latest exploration and production developments in the Mediterranean, as well as the Western and Eastern Deserts.
He also briefed the President on the latest efforts to boost regional cooperation in the energy file.
The meeting tackled of executive situation of oil projects nationwide, including the asphalt plant of the Suez Oil Processing Company (SOPC), expansion project of the Middle East Oil Refinery (MIDOR), diesel production complex project of the Assiut National Oil Processing Company (ANOPC), and project for the production of medium-density fibreboard (MDF) in Beheira governorate.
