He highlighted Egypt’s role in ensuring access of humanitarian aid via the Rafah land crossing in addition to airdrops in the most affected areas by the conflict in the northern Gaza Strip.
Sisi made the remarks during a meeting Wednesday with a delegation of the UK House of Common under Alicia Kearns, the Chair of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee.
Sisi stressed the urgent need for crucial solutions in order to reach the ceasefire in light of the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The UK delegation was keen to stand on Sisi’s vision on the regional conditions, especially in the Gaza Strip, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said.
During the meeting, Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to clinch a ceasefire deal, ensure aid access into enclave and exchange prisoners.
He asserted that a just and durable solution of the tension in the Middle East lies in establishing an independent Palestinian state in line with international resolutions.
Sisi cautioned of the gravity of spreading conflict in the region, referring to the security conditions in Bab Mandeb Strait of the Red Sea.
Sisi also underlined Egypt’s role in supporting neighboring regional countries to meet aspirations of their people to achieve security and stability.
Meanwhile, the UK delegation voiced appreciation to the balanced and responsible role played by Egypt at the political and humanitarian levels to contain regional tension and conflict.
The delegation stressed the importance of reaching a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza and open vistas for regional peace, underscoring support for Egypt’s efforts.
The spokesman noted that the talks also tackled means of enhancing bilateral ties in various domains.
