CAIRO – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed the need to intensify the efforts to stop the war in the Gaza Strip and put an end to the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe experienced by Gazans, warning of the risks posed by the Israeli military operations in the Palestinian city of Rafah, and their humanitarian and security repercussions.
President Sisi made the remarks during a meeting on Monday with a bipartisan delegation from the US Congress led by Republican Senator Jerry Moran, in the presence of Head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel, said Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi.
During the meeting, President Sisi underlined that the international community should seriously engage in implementing the two-state solution based on the resolutions of international legitimacy, as being the path to achieving justice, peace and security for all peoples of the region.
The spokesman added that the visit of the US Congress delegation comes in light of the particular importance attached by Washington to the strategic partnership with Cairo.
The US congressmen commended Egypt’s efforts to consolidate peace and security in the region, given that the country serves as a pillar of the regional stability.
The spokesman noted that the US Congress delegation praised Egypt’s critical role in pushing forward the endeavors to reach a ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave and conducting a prisoner-hostage exchange, in addition to its great efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza residents.
