President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Egypt is keen to remove all obstacles to gas exploration projects, urging US energy giant ExxonMobil to intensify its exploration and development activities, through using latest drilling technologies to boost production levels and strengthen the country’s energy security.

Sisi made the remarks on Sunday during his meeting with Vice President of Global Exploration at ExxonMobil John Ardill, in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and ExxonMobil Egypt’s Chairman and Managing Director Amr Abou Eita, said Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El Shennawy.

The spokesman added that President Sisi lauded the pivotal role played by the US energy company in supporting the oil and gas sectors in the Egyptian market and its continued engagement in various initiatives and events launched by the petroleum ministry, reflecting the depth of the strategic partnership between the two sides. The president was briefed on the progress of ExxonMobil’s ongoing operations in several concession areas, particularly in the Mediterranean region.

Sisi and Ardill discussed prospects for future cooperation between the Egyptian government and the US energy company, especially in light of Egypt’s rapid advancement in the energy sector.Ardill reviewed in detail the pace of work in the Cairo and Masry offshore concession areas in the Mediterranean Sea, citing the use of cutting-edge drilling technologies and the intensification of exploration activities following the completion of seismic surveys.ExxonMobil official noted that these activities are part of the company’s drive to achieve new discoveries that would further strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub.

On his part, the petroleum minister presented investment opportunities available in oil and gas research and exploration, stressing that ExxonMobil is one of Egypt’s key international partners in the petroleum and gas sectors, given its advanced expertise and leading technological capabilities
