President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has directed the government to strengthen strategic partnerships aimed at attracting foreign investment into Egypt’s civil aviation sector, as part of ongoing efforts to modernize airport infrastructure and boost tourism.
The directive came during a meeting on Saturday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Presidential Advisor for Financial Affairs Ahmed El-Shazly, Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy said.
During the meeting, President Sisi was briefed on the progress of the “Terminal 4” project at Cairo International Airport, one of the government’s key strategic initiatives to enhance service quality and upgrade airport infrastructure.
According to the Civil Aviation Minister, the new terminal will have a capacity of no less than 30 million passengers annually, bringing the airport’s total capacity to more than 60 million passengers. The facility will incorporate cutting-edge smart technologies to deliver a world-class, fully integrated travel experience.
El-Shennawy said the President underscored the importance of implementing an advanced operational framework, integrating the latest systems in air navigation, ground handling, and facility management. He also called for the adoption of research-driven innovations to establish a smart, sustainable aviation environment that meets global standards.
The President reviewed national efforts to improve efficiency across Egypt’s airports as part of the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s plan to raise total passenger capacity to 72.2 million annually by the end of 2025, aligning with the country’s broader goal of attracting 30 million tourists each year.
In this context, President Sisi urged the formation of strategic partnerships and investment zones around major airports to encourage private and foreign direct investment in aviation infrastructure and related services.
He also emphasized the need for strict compliance with environmental standards in all sector-related projects, consistent with Egypt’s transition toward a green economy and a more sustainable aviation system.
Additionally, the President called for continuous monitoring of passenger feedback and swift responses to service-related complaints at all airports, stressing that maintaining high service quality is vital to enhancing traveler satisfaction and building public trust in Egypt’s aviation network.
