CAIRO- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has issued directives officials to expand the use of new irrigation systems across the nation.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Aati, the president called for ensuring the rational management and safe use of groundwater in Egypt, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
Sisi issued directives to strengthen efforts aimed to implement projects in the field of irrigation in co-operation with the Nile Basin countries.
The irrigation minister reviewed the latest developments of the canal lining project nationwide at a length of 20,000km.
Abdel Aati also spoke about his ministry’s efforts to apply digital transformation and cooperate with African nations in the irrigation field.
He briefed the president on the ongoing preparations for organizing the Fifth Cairo Water Week.
