CAIRO – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi called for taking into account the establishment of the electrical infrastructure for the New Delta agricultural project to accommodate the future increase in electrical loads as a result of the expanding development rates in the region and the diversity of industrial activities.
The President’s remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
During the meeting, the President highlighted the importance of achieving the maximum added value of these projects and their good management and to ensure the quality of production and its availability in the market as well as the provision of irrigation water.
For his part, Minister Shaker presented the executive position of the electrical supply for the giant agricultural project “New Delta” with a total area of 2.2 million feddans.
He also reviewed the executive regarding the completion of the infrastructure works to secure the current and future electricity supply for the North Coast region in a way that supports the infrastructure necessary for the electrical interconnection project with Libya.
The minister, meanwhile, highlighted the developments of the tripartite electrical interconnection project with Cyprus and Greece as well as the tripartite linkage with Iraq and Jordan and the linkage with Saudi Arabia.
He said that these projects aim at achieving mutual economic benefit throughout the year according to each side’s needs of electricity.
The minister also reviewed the results of the work of the twenty-third session of the African Energy Forum, which was held recently in London.
The minister participated in the forum and highlighted the pioneering Egyptian experience that transformed from a deficit in electricity to abundance while raising the efficiency of the national distribution network.
