YEREVAN – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi underlined on Sunday the special historical ties between Egypt and Armenia, especially at the popular level.
Egypt has along the history hosted tens of thousands of Armenians who contributed at the political, cultural, economic and artistic levels to enrich the Egyptian community’s life, Sisi said.
Addressing a joint press conference with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Sisi voiced happiness for being the first Egyptian president to visit the amazing city of Yerevan since the establishment of the diplomatic ties between the two countries about 30 years ago.
Sisi said the visit reflects Egypt’s deep interest in developing ties with Armenia in various domains.
He thanked the Armenian president for the hospitality, noting that this amicable climate has positively affected the talks which focused on the leap in the field of energy production and the national strategy for green hydrogen production, thus becoming a promising investment destination in light of securing needed energy for industry.
Sisi voiced Egypt’s appreciation to Armenia’s participation in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) which Egypt hosted in November 2022.
