CAIRO – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi made a tour Friday of some of the sections of the Central Ring Road which connects eastern and western Cairo with the Belbeis-Ismailia Road and the al-Dabaa Road Axis.
The road extends over 156 kilometers. It contains eight lanes in each direction, which makes it the widest in Egypt and probably in the region. This motorway will be used by tens of thousands of vehicles every day.
The operation of the Central Ring Road is expected to reduce pressure on roads around the Greater Cairo area.
It is a great addition to the roads network in the vicinity of the Greater Cairo region, Presidency Spokesman, Ambassador Bassam Radi, said.
President Sisi especially stopped at the Badrasheen Section of the road to follow up on ongoing construction activities in the area, including the lining of irrigation water canals.
The president also toured the new site of the Nasr City used car market near Sokhna Road.
The new market complex is constructed on 57 feddans and has space for 4,000 vehicles at a time, the presidency spokesman said.
The market complex also contains a large number of car showrooms, along with car maintenance centers, cafés and restaurants.
The operation of the market will reduce congestion in the areas around used car markets in Cairo, Ambassador Radi said.
He added that new market also contains a car registration office, a traffic office, a police station, a fire department and a medical center.
The complex also contains the branches of several banks to ease market financial transactions.
During his tour of the market complex, President Sisi chatted with some of the people present there and congratulated them on the occasion of the Islamic month of Ramadan.
The president was also keen on listening to the views and the demands of these citizens, Ambassador Radi said.
