CAIRO- The head of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s election campaign, Mahmoud Fawzy, on Saturday submitted Sisi’s nomination papers to the National Elections Authority (NEA) relevant committee to enter the upcoming presidential race in December.
Fawzy was accompanied by members of the campaign team carrying large numbers of boxes filled with notarial endorsement forms for Sisi who is running for a third term in office.
He filled the candidacy application form on behalf of President Sisi.
Sisi’s official candidacy submission papers were presented to the NEA, including a photocopy of his national ID card, birth certificate, certificate of higher education, a clean criminal record certificate, a financial disclosure form, a medical examination report, and a personal photo.
On the 3rd day of a 10-day window for potential candidates to submit their papers, the National Elections Authority has received about 1,365,000 notarial endorsements from citizens and 424 endorsement forms submitted by members of the House of Representatives to support Sisi’s candidacy for president.
Sisi is the first presidential hopeful to submit all required documents.
