Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has stressed the need to make tangible progress towards achieving calm, advancing the path of the two-state solution, and preventing the expansion of the conflict in the region.
Sisi made the remarks during a phone call he received from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday.
The phone conversation touched on ways to strengthen Cairo-Rome relations in various fields in line with their distinguished and historical relations, and in a way that supports their common interests in light of the current international and regional conditions.
It also tackled developments of the regional situation and the escalation witnessed in the region, with President Sisi reviewing Egypt’s efforts to communicate with all parties in order to push for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Sisi also reviewed Cairo’s efforts to deliver relief aid to inhabitants of the Gaza Strip
