Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed Egypt’s support for Algeria’s presidency of the Arab summit to promote joint Arab action, especially in a period which witnesses major and unprecedented challenges in the region.
He voiced hope that the summit would come up with recommendations and serious visions that could crown the joint efforts exerted under the umbrella of the Arab League.
Sisi made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on the fringe of the Arab summit.
The talks tackled means of enhancing bilateral cooperation at all levels.
The Presidential Spokesman said President Sisi greeted his Algerian counterpart on Algeria’s independence day.
Sisi lauded the distinguished level of bilateral ties in various domains.
For his part, Tebboune welcomed Sisi’s visit to Algeria, extolling the deeply-rooted ties between the two countries.
He voiced interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation, hailing the achievements realized by Egypt under the leadership of President Sisi over the past period in the fields of security, stability and development.
The two sides underlined the importance of furthering economic and trade cooperation in addition to proceeding with military and information cooperation and coordination.
The talks also tackled promoting cooperation in combating terrorism, especially in light of the various regional security challenges, especially in the Sahel and Sahara region.
The two leaders highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation vis-a-vis various regional issues, especially the Libyan crisis.
