Egypt welcomes cooperation with Sri Lanka in the development and economic efforts it undertakes as well as the ongoing mega projects nationwide
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi emphasised that Egypt welcomes intensifying cooperation with Sri Lanka in various international forums, taking into account the historical relations between the two countries as well as Egypt’s interest in strengthening cooperation with the Asian country, especially at the economic and investment level.
The President’s remarks came during a phone call he received Tuesday from Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
President said that Egypt welcomes cooperation with Sri Lanka in the development and economic efforts it undertakes as well as the ongoing mega projects nationwide.
For his part, the Sri Lankan President expressed his country’s pride in the distinguished relations binding the two countries, stressing his country’s keenness to strengthen to strengthen bilateral relations with Egypt in all fields as well as in various international forums, especially in light of the pioneering role Egypt plays at the regional and international levels.
He also highlighted Egypt’s valued role in the field of combating terrorism and achieving security, stability and peace in the Middle East.
The two leaders reviewed efforts to exchange experiences between the two sides in various fields, including combating the coronavirus pandemic in addition to the fight against terrorism file as it is one of the most important challenges facing the two countries.
They also discussed Egypt’s efforts to combat terrorism and extremist ideologies at the domestic and regional levels.
They also highlighted Al-Azhar’s pioneering role in this regard as it is the beacon of the Islamic world and the representative of true Islamic teachings.
