CAIRO, Jan 29 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi underlined the depth of relations and strategic co-operation between Egypt and Senegal in various domains, especially in view of the privotal role of Senegal in western Africa.
The two countries also coordinate stances vis-a-vis peace and stability in Africa, he said in remarks he made during a meeting on Saturday with his Senegalese counterpart Macky Sall at Al Ittihadiya Palace, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.
He commended the depth of relations with Senegal at the political, economic, cultural and security levels, referring to growing cooperation between the two countries in building capabilities in view of Egypt’s belief in the importance of investing in human resources in the African continent.
He stressed the improtance of furthering cooperation in various domains.
For his part, Sall expressed deep appreciation of the historical ties with Egypt in various domains.
Sall hailed the activities of Egyptian companies in Senegal in the fields of construction, infrastructure and tourism, saying that he is looking forward to boosting Egyptian investments in his country.
He accentuated keenness on benefiting from Egypt’s expertise and vision to promote joint African action, especially as Senegal is due to assume the presidency of the African Union next year.
He highlighted Egypt’s leverage in the continent and the whole reigon.
Presidential spokesman Radi said the two leaders reviewed regional developments of mutual interest, especially the Ethiopia dam dossier.
The two sides also discussed means of enhancing cooperation in combating terrorism in the Sahel region.
