Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed on Thursday Egypt’s unequivocal rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people or undermine the legitimacy of the Palestinian cause.

He also emphasised the importance of turning the international support for the Arab-Islamic reconstruction plan into actionable steps that can be implemented as soon as a ceasefire is secured.

Sisi made these remarks as he received a phone call from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said adding that the conversation touched on pressing regional issues, with particular focus on the situation in the Gaza Strip.

In this respect, Prime Minister Starmer listened to President Sisi’s perspective on Egypt’s diplomatic efforts—carried out in collaboration with Qatar and the United States—to achieve an immediate ceasefire and facilitate the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.

The president welcomed the constructive stance adopted by the United Kingdom regarding the developments in Gaza and the broader Palestinian issue.

The discussion reviewed ways to enhance bilateral relations and boost strategic co-operation between Egypt and the United Kingdom.

The call also included a comprehensive review of economic, trade, and investment ties between the two nations.

Both leaders expressed a shared commitment to expanding cooperation across a broad range of sectors, and to deepening political dialogue and coordination in pursuit of mutual interests.
