CAIRO/N’DJAMENA – Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry delivered Monday a message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby.
That came while the Chadian president was receiving the foreign minister in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, Monday at the start of his visit to Chad and South Sudan.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said the foreign minister started the meeting with conveying the greetings of President Sisi to his Chadian counterpart.
The message of President Sisi tackled ways of boosting bilateral relations on all fronts and consultation and coordination regarding the ongoing developments in Sudan and the role of Chad and Sudan’s other neighboring countries in supporting ceasefire efforts and dealing with the humanitarian crisis facing the Sudanese people, added Abu Zeid.
The spokesman said the Chadian president appreciated President Sisi’s initiative to dispatch the foreign minister to Chad at this important and critical timing, when Sudan is facing growing security and political challenges.
The Chadian president said his country is looking forward to cooperating with Egypt to encourage Sudanese parties to maintain the ceasefire and deliver humanitarian and relief assistance to the people, in addition to setting the stage for launching constructive dialogue to settle differences and end the fighting, added the spokesman.
In turn, Shoukry tackled ongoing efforts and contacts Egypt has been making since the onset of the crisis at the political level to maintain the ceasefire and stop the bloodshed.
