BERLIN – Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will kick off on Monday the “Petersberg Dialogue” with the participation of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock, and representatives from 40 countries.
Scholz is expected to receive President Sisi at the headquarters of the German Chancellery in Berlin where they will probe ways to promote mutual cooperation.
Egypt was invited to co-chair the dialogue in recognition of its vital role in the climate change negotiation process over the past few years.
The “Petersberg Dialogue” offers an important platform for consultation and coordination on climate-related issues ahead of the upcoming global climate summit, COP27, to be hosted by Egypt in its Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh in November.
