Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Egypt is keen to proceed with the economic reforms and maximize the role of the private sector in the development process.
The president’s remarks came during his meeting here on Sunday with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva and her accompanying delegation, in the presence of the prime minister, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) governor and a number of ministers, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.
The meeting took up partnership between Egypt and the IMF, especially in light of the recent loan agreement signed by the two sides to complete implementing the economic reforms.
The spokesman added that President Sisi welcomed the IMF director’s visit to Egypt for taking part in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27).
The president thanked Georgieva for her contributions within the existing cooperation and fruitful partnership between the Egyptian government and the IMF to execute the comprehensive economic reform program.
On her part, Georgieva said the IMF will continue cooperation with Egypt to advance the economic reforms, particularly in light of the stability of Egypt’s economy over the past period and its resilience to the shocks arising from the coronavirus pandemic and the fallout of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
