Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Egypt is keen on fostering co-operation and ties with Latvia, while continuing bilateral coordination on political issues of common concern.
President Sisi’s comments came during his meeting on Sunday with visiting Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs, in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.
The Latvian top diplomat stressed his country’s willingness to advance joint cooperation with Egypt, especially in light of its vital role in the Middle East and the East Mediterranean and Africa.
Concerning bilateral cooperation, President Sisi stated that Egypt looks forward to stepping up co-operation with Latvia in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), education and tourism, the spokesman added.
They discussed a number of regional and international issues with common interest, as well as challenges facing African and European countries, notably the illegal migration and terrorism.
