President Abdel Fattah El Sisi followed up on Saturday the progress on a number of petroleum industry and electricity projects, during two separate meetings with a host of cabinet ministers.
The ministers attending the meetings included Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energies Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek al-Mulla, and Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea as well as Presidential Advisor for Financial Affairs Maj Gen Mohamed Amin, and Chairman of the Financial Affairs Authority of the Armed Forces Maj Gen Ahmed el-Shazly.
During the first meeting, the president discussed petroleum industry projects nationwide, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
He added that the president directed the government to keep raising the efficiency of petroleum products and services.
The president also called for expanding investments in the petroleum sector in order to support the national economy and secure the needs of the local market, Ambassador Radi said.
The president reviewed during the meeting the progress on a number of projects of the petroleum sector.
He also discussed ongoing co-operation with international oil companies in the fields of research, exploration and new discoveries, Ambassador Radi said.
He added that the president also reviewed the efforts made by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to make the necessary petroleum products available for the advancement of production and development nationwide.
During the second meeting, the president discussed strategic electricity projects around Egypt, the spokesman said.
He added that Minister Shaker detailed the executive situation of the project to supply the Nile Delta project with electricity.
The project is to be carried out on 2.2 million feddans of land.
Minister Shaker also reviewed the efforts his ministry makes to connect the project with the national electricity grid.
President Sisi directed the minister to put expected increases in demand for electricity in the area of the project, given ongoing development there, Ambassador Radi said.
