Sisi reviews progress of strategic power projects nationwide

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the government to establish the necessary infrastructure for the major power projects to accommodate the future increase in power loads due to the increasing development taking place across the country.

 

President Sisi gave these directives during his meeting on Wednesday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker to follow up the executive situation of the strategic power projects nationwide.

 

During the meeting, Minister Shaker reviewed efforts to supply electricity for the meganational projects being carried out nationwide, especially the New Delta project that aims to reclaim 2.2 million feddans, and the ongoing efforts to link it to the national grid, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

 

Shaker also reviewed the ministry’s efforts to complete the infrastructure works to secure electricity for the North Coast, as well as for the national project to develop Sinai, in a way that could help establish new urban and housing communities in the entire region, Radi added.

 

Meanwhile, Minister Shaker reviewed the updates regarding co-operation with the long-standing world expertise as part of the national strategy to generate green hydrogen.

The president gave directives to carry on with national plans seeking to boost renewable energy, maximise its value to diversify sources of power supply, which is crucial to the development process in Egypt.

 

wednesrday’s meeting also addressed the latest developments of the electrical interconnection with Greece, Cyprus, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Libya. The objective is to achieve mutual economic benefits throughout the year, in accordance with the needs of each party.
