President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reviewed a new social protection package aimed at supporting low-income and most vulnerable groups ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
During a meeting on Saturday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, the president directed the government to announce and implement the package before the start of Ramadan.
The measures will provide direct cash assistance to eligible groups during Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr.
He also instructed that February salaries for state employees be paid during the current week.
Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy said that the meeting approved additional financial allocations to complete first-phase projects of the Decent Life initiative, create job opportunities for vulnerable groups, and strengthen healthcare services, including treatment for critical cases and faster rollout of the comprehensive health insurance system.
During the talks, they also addressed plans to increase state employees’ incomes and introduce tax and customs reforms for the 2026/2027 fiscal year, including simplifying tax procedures, updating property tax regulations, and adjusting tariffs to support national industry and limit smuggling.
For his part, the finance minister reviewed progress in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund
and efforts to reduce public debt and improve economic performance.
