Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to calm the situation in the region through communication with all parties, emphasising the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the unfettered delivery of humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities, considering it as a fundamental step to defuse regional tensions.
The President’s remarks came on Tuesday as he received the Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, Sergei Naryshkin, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by Head of the General Intelligence Service, Major General Abbas Kamel.
The meeting addressed regional developments, with a focus on achieving stability in the Middle East amidst the crisis in Gaza and the escalating tensions in the region. Discussions also touched on various African issues, counter terrorism efforts, and updates on international situations, notably in Ukraine and Afghanistan.
Furthermore, the meeting stressed the importance of reaching a fair and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian issue and the establishment of a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, to ensure peace and stability in the Middle East.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to continue consultations and coordination on various issues, aiming to achieve the common interests of both countries and their friendly peoples, reflecting their distinguished historical relations.
